Kelli and Mike's Disneymoon

Monday, August 6

After breakfast we headed to MK by bus for our last full day. The bus driver gave us trivia about the bus system and Walt Disney Word such as there are 270-280 buses and 57,000 people word here.

We got to the park entrance to see the opening ceremonies with the characters coming in on the train - another first for both of us. The park again was empty. They had extra magic hours the night before till 3AM!

So we were able to go on Magic Carpets of Aladdin twice! Then onto Jungle Cruise with little wait, then onto Snow White’s Scary Adventure and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. The park was still empty so for the first time in our lives we able to ride the classic Dumbo The Flying Elephant.

We headed over to Mickey’s Toontown Fair and walked through Minnie’s Country House and then Mickey’s Country House. The souvenir store was great and we bought a lot there. We decided to ride the Railroad back to the front of the park. We were enjoying this relaxing ride so much, that we decided to go completely around before getting off at the Main Street Station.

We were the only ones at the bus stop. A mallard with her nine chicks walk up to us. We fed them a few cheese-its. They were incredibly tame, fearless, and cute.

Back at the Riverside Mill food court we snacked on another chocolate cake and a cheese cake.

For dinner we headed by car to the Wilderness Lodge. We rubbed Humphrey’s Nose for good luck (the bear at the bottom of the Mickey totem pole) and viewed the grounds. Our last dinner was at Artist Point, one of the best restaurants on Disney property. It was fantastic.

Kelli thoroughly enjoyed;
Mixed Green Salad with Roasted Beets, Hazelnut Gremolata, Echo Mountain Blue Cheese, and Blackberry Vinaigrette (huge but it was so good she ate it all)
Grilled Buffalo Sirloin Steak with sweet potato-hazelnut gratin and sweet onion jam
Cherry Napoleon with raspberry sorbet.

Mike enjoyed;
Smoky Portobello Soup with roasted Shiitakes and Chive Oil
Pan-seared Scallops with Fire-roasted Corn, Fava Beans, Caramelized Onions, Bacon, and Corn Nectar
Coffee Two Ways: Mochaccino Bread Pudding and Vanilla Latte Creme Brulee

Cost was $143 with tip.

After dinner we drove to Downtown Disney and caught the first show at the Comedy Warehouse. We sat next to the phone on the fourth level. The show starts with a performer talking to an audience member and then the troupe makes up a song about their lives. We just missed it when the phone one level down rang. The wife picked it up. She was there with her husband and friend, both retired but being sent to Iraq to fly Chinook helicopters. The song consisted of jokes about old geezers and granddads being sent to Iraq and them flying a vehicle named after a fish. The whole show was funny. The last bit was where one of the cast members had to guess at an obscure saying by observing skits put on by the other cast members. A guy from the back mumbled back, but the audience couldn’t understand a word of it. The performer said don’t worry - I understand southern :-)  The saying was “Don’t get smart - Nobody will recognize you.”  The cast member eventually guessed the saying.

    After the show we visited the Magic Masters Store, saw some tricks demonstrated, and I brought a new card trick. We looked into the Adventures Club but nothing was happening so we left to finish packing.
