Hudson River Audubon Society Field Trip

Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge
Join us at Jamaica Bay at 8:00 AM

Saturday, March 29, 2008

Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge is one of the best birding locations in New York.  The bay, along with the large East and West ponds, extensive salt marshes, gardens and fields host a great variety of birds. Well over 300 species have been seen here.

We’ll be visiting at the time where the last winter visitors will be met by the first early spring arrivals.  The season’s first Great Egrets, Osprey, Laughing Gull, Glossy Ibis, and American Oystercatcher may be seen. The ponds should have plentiful waterfowl.

The gravel paths are mainly level for easy walking, although the gardens will be muddy. Trip over by noon. Bring binoculars if you have them. Some are available for loan.

For more information or questions, call or E-mail our field trip leader, Michael Bochnik at 914-237-9331 or bochnikm@cs.com
