George's Island

One of the best spots to find wintering Bald
Eagles. Early
morning and late afternoon offer your the best chance. Look for them on the ice
flows or perched in trees, especially the trees on the steep
slope north of the park overlooking the Hudson. Common Merganser, Bufflehead and
other ducks should also be seen. There are some trails and
ponds. Reported to have Least Bittern!

From the south: Take Route 9 to the Montrose/Bucannan exit. Turn left onto Route 9A north. Take 9A 1.3 miles to Dutch Street on your left, just after FDR VA Hospital. Take Dutch Street all the way into the park, follow the road down to the Hudson River. Westchester County Parks system has a parking fee on weekends and during the summer.
