Birding Outside of Westchester County
Sterling Forest is home to a number of breeding Golden-winged Warblers. One the best places to start is at the end of Ironwood Road. Other birds you may encounter during late spring and summer include Alder Flycatcher, Cerulean Warbler, Prairie Warbler, Field Sparrow, Indigo Bunting, Scarlet Tanager and Rose-breasted Grosbeak. A pair of Yellow-breasted Chats bred at the southern end of the power line trail from Ironwood Road. Ticks can be plentiful so make sure to spray and check yourself after your walk.
